Macrame and Beading Craft Salon
Macrame and Beading Craft Salon
We have a bunch of Macrame supplies organized. This is a great opportunity for beginners to try out a project that you can finish in a day, or take home and finish with no additional supplies needed. We also have some bigger beads and charms to string onto your macrame project.
We also have the beading supplies orgnaized. I’ve enjoyed beading with seed beads for a long time, and peyote stich is really fun. I’ll teach you how to do it! We also have beading looms, and other types of beads and cord. Bring your own supplies if you want!
I love peyote stitch because of the mesmerizing texture and bead pattern. And as an off-loom weaving technique, it’s very versatile and gives you a lot of space to make it up as you go along.
There are two basic forms of peyote stitch that I know about – Radial and Rectangular.
Radial is easier to start, but harder to expand in a way that keeps it flat. Rectangular is kind of hard to get started, but after the first few rows, you really start flying, and it’s really satisfying to see row after row come together.
Plan for a small project. It takes a while to get going. You can take home your project, but will have to supply your own needle and beads if you want to keep working on it at home. BUT you can come back to your project at Craft Salon on Thursdays if you want and use the supplies we have on hand.
There is a variety of materials around to do other kinds of beading/jewelry making as well, if you want to just come do your own thing.
